Use headlights when driving on a motorway at night, including a lit motorway. The regulation’s lit restricted-road exception does not cover motorways. Use dipped beams around other traffic without causing dazzle. For a vehicle safely parked after breakdown, the Highway Code requires sidelights at night or in poor visibility, and hazard warning lights.
