Check for exposed cord, deep cuts, bulges and tears. A bulge can indicate internal structural failure. A cut reaching ply or cord is unacceptable when longer than 25 mm or 10% of tyre width, whichever is greater. Have suspect damage assessed before riding; replace an unsafe tyre.
