Police and DVSA can inspect commercial vehicles and prohibit unsafe use. An immediate prohibition prevents further use until the stated requirements are met; do not simply return to the depot. Serious problems may be referred to the Traffic Commissioner and affect the operator’s licence. A repaired defect does not automatically cancel a notice: follow its removal requirements.
