DVLA’s towing-entitlement guidance expressly requires category D for an articulated or bendy bus. Its connected passenger sections are not treated as an ordinary bus towing a separate trailer for this entitlement. Category DE is relevant when a category D vehicle tows a trailer over 750 kg MAM.
