Before a long motorway journey, check the vehicle carefully. Sustained high-speed running heats tyres, and inadequate oil or coolant can lead to engine damage and a dangerous breakdown. Check tyre condition and pressure, oil, coolant and fuel using the handbook’s procedures. These physical maintenance principles also apply to ordinary cars; this is not a taxi-licensing requirement.
