The earlier DfT load code rejects split-link chain for load securing. Chain strength depends on the material and construction as well as its size; use a rated assembly and compatible tensioner suited to the load. Inspect for wear, damage and distortion. Do not infer that every other link shape in a practice question is automatically suitable.
