In Great Britain, tyres over ten years old are prohibited on front steering axles of goods vehicles over 3.5 tonnes, buses, coaches and minibuses, and on minibus rear axles unless twin-wheeled. Narrow historic/non-commercial exemptions apply. Date markings must remain legible; four digits show week then year. For a retread, use its retreading date. Older tyres on other permitted axles still need monitoring and are not recommended.
