Reach an exit or service area if possible; otherwise move left to an emergency area or hard shoulder. Use hazards. Leave on the side away from traffic only if safe and wait clear behind a barrier. If trapped in a live lane and unable to exit safely, remain belted, use hazards and call 999. Do not attempt roadside repairs.
