A vehicle’s driver, owner or hirer can face a civil penalty for carrying a person concealed to evade UK border control. The current maximum is £10,000 for each clandestine entrant per responsible person, not the archived £2,000. Secure and check the vehicle. If you suspect someone is hiding inside, do not confront them or board transport to the UK; contact police, port security or Border Force.
