Water in an air-brake system can freeze. For manually drained systems without an air dryer, the manufacturer recommends daily reservoir draining. Dryer-equipped or automatic-drain systems have different schedules: inspect and maintain them as specified. Do not assume an unfamiliar vehicle drains itself, or release pressurised components outside the instructed safe procedure.
