On a completely empty curtain-sided vehicle, securing both curtains open may reduce crosswind loading. Only consider it under a safe procedure where the vehicle allows it, mirrors remain clear and the roof, doors and curtains will not be damaged. Secure them before travel in a safe place. This does not make severe winds safe; postpone, stop safely or reroute when necessary and obey restrictions.
