It is a session like any other. The answers count, they go into the same log everything else reads, and a wrong one lands in your mistakes the same day — so building your own is not a way of practising off the record.
What it does not do is override the length of day you asked for. The questions are drawn from every topic you pick, and the session stops when the time you set is spent, whatever is left over. Anything not reached keeps its place and comes round again.
